Λ-19 Chalwyn Far East
The other lantern made along λ-18 is a same model Far East that was treated differently. It has a clear alkyd coat varnish (bare metal finish) and employed a newer design K-series + circuitry inside along with GU4 new socket elements Can take either stabdard XHG cree leds element or lumileds 90 cri leds. ( higher light quality a bit less efficient)

K-series PLUS
Its a redesign of the standard Barou’s ® K series circuit. The somewhat large blow fuse was replaced by electronic latch fuse (triggered over 1.8A at 10msec) that needs no replacement to reset. Limits to its operation apply as the higher blocking voltage is 35V. In contrast the older fuse can shut off larger voltages as 110 or 220volts but the cut off time (even though of the fast blow type) rated 3A is around 50-100mS achieving momentarily 20 / 40 or more Amps. (bad for circuit) Generally the new circuit is leaner, less prone to errors and somewhat more efficient (+ a pleasure to eye also 🙂

Bryan’s Lanterns
Inspired by the lantern retrofication work and “make per wish” potential, Bryan from Colorado send me two great brand new Dietz Champion lanterns to work with. I was really impressed by those towering beasts! After exchange of ideas and discussion, he set his mind on having: Fully dimmable light output from 30 or so lumens up to 900-1000 Lm Warm white 3000-3200 K External 12v power. (no batteries inside) Safety no 1 priority under any circumstance Primary function would be those lanterns to serve as room lights and secondary in case of emergency or camping etc to be used from a car battery! Voila! 🙂 Photos:
